ABOUT ALLISON

Allison has always been intrigued by the importance and meaning of Challah. Raised in a traditional Jewish home, traditional Challah was constantly served on Friday nights. She started at a young age, making it at the Synagogue and during Sunday School.

She is determined to continue the tradition in her own family by sharing the making and celebration of Challah with her daughters. Allison believes it's important for her family to enjoy and pass on the tradition.

Family is important to Allison and it was her mother-in-law who played a pivotal role in helping her to bring the traditional Challah to local farmer's markets. During a family get together where Allision's Challah was served, her mother-in-law suggested that it be entered into the 2010 Lithopolis Honey Festival. Since Allison's Challah is made with local honey, it was a natural fit for her to enter the contest. She took her mother's advice and to everyone's pride and amazement, she won!

During the next summer, she decided on a whim, to sell a couple of dozen with her friend at a farmer's market. She sold out and her business was born.

Allison's Challah is now sold in local farmer's markets, indoor markets and holiday events. It's offered in ten different varieties and three sizes, including some seasonal varieties. Jewish and non-Jewish families are enjoying it in traditional and creative ways. French toast Challah is a favorite.

As Allison's business continues to grow, she is fueled by the main reason she works to deliver a quality product. She wants more people to learn and enjoy her traditional Challah that's made with local honey.
